He was the last surviving five-star commissioned officer of the United States and the first general to be selected Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Omar N. Bradley served on active duty with the United States Army from 1915-1953. Omar Bradley died on April 8, 1981 in New York City of a cardiac arrhythmia. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. | ||
