A key piece of prosecution evidence is a taped conversation between Lamborn and his same-sex spouse. Diane and Alicia argue that it should be excluded as it is a confidential communication with a spouse. The prosecution, lawyer Bucky Stabler, argues that the Defense of Marriage Act does not recognize same sex spouses. Into the fray comes high-profile lawyer Jeremy Breslow, a strong advocate of same sex marriage. It's not clear to Diane and Alicia that he has Lamborn's best interest at heart. Meanwhile, Alicia's mother shows up once again widowed - he was her third husband - but in need of legal advice as she has been disinherited. Thanksgiving dinner proves to be just a bit too stressful.
